Apple says it will be releasing an iPhone app to remove the phone number that appears in messages sent to a Facebook account.
The app, called Phone Extractor, will allow users to view phone numbers from their Facebook profile and remove them from email messages, according to the app’s description.
A separate iPhone app called Facebook Phone Extract is expected to be released in the coming months, according in the description.
Facebook said it has been working with law enforcement agencies to combat the spread of the virus and has been “inclusive and transparent about its efforts to stop it”.
“It is important to note that we don’t support, condone or encourage the transmission of this virus via social media,” the company said.
“However, we have a very high level of faith in our systems and are working closely with law enforcers and the authorities around the world to stop the spread and contain the virus.”
